Gabrie’l J. Atchison, Ph.D. is a Black Feminist theologian. Her current project, Grace at the Circle, addresses the theme of poverty in the Bible while providing a space for Progressive Christians to connect and become part of a community. Dr. Atchison is a contributor to the Anti-Racist Devotional and a Board Member of Jesus the Liberator Seminary in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Atchison has earned the M.A. in Religion from Yale Divinity School with a concentration in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Her doctorate is in Women’s Studies. Gabrie’l J. Atchison has taught for Sociology, African American Studies and Communication Departments as an Adjunct Professor at various colleges and universities in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. She is currently the Congregational Development Director at Trinity Episcopal Church in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Atchison’s current research project explores the contribution of African Americans to the Episcopal Church and considers the role of the church in the racial identity development of Black Episcopalians. She lives in Kenmore, NY, a small village a little bit to the north of Buffalo with her Yellow Labrador, Rupert.
